REAVNan PROJECT

PT064 | REAVNan ADVANCED NANOREFRIGERANTS IN PLUG-IN SHOWCASES FOR COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION PURPOSES

Start date: January 2017
End date: November 2019

Objectives

The main objective of the REAVNan project has been to improve the energy efficiency of a KOXKA plug-in showcase.

The result has been a 12% improvement in energy efficiency

This project began because international environmental laws have set out deadlines (2020 and 2021, depending on the case) to reduce the use of fluorinated refrigerants, which are used in this type of furniture, due to their negative environmental impact.

One of the ways that help reduce them is the improvement of the energy efficiency of this type of showcase. To achieve this improvement, NAITEC has opted for the use of nanofluids as follows:

  1. Selection of the most interesting nanoparticles
  2. Formulation of a mixture that ensures the dispersion and stability of the selected nanoparticles
  3. Injection of the mixture with the nanoparticles in the refrigerant fluid

Thus, a nanofluid was created, which can improve the energy efficiency of plug-in showcases by 12%.

This solution can also be applied to other products from other sectors such as automation, electronics and household appliances.
