Our History

NAITEC was born as an initiative of the Government of Navarra, with the support of the previous CEMITEC technology center (with more than 25 years of experience), and of the Public University of Navarre, UPNA, who agreed to create this new technology center whose objective is to promote the development of technologies capable of developing the automotive and mechatronics sectors. Both are priority lines of the Strategic Plan of the Government of Navarre.
The main landmark in our history are:

1989

Government of Navarrecreated the company Technological Centers of Navarre / Centros Tecnológicos de Navarra, S.A. (CETENASA). The company’s objective was to contribute to improving the competitiveness of companies. CETENASA integrated three centers, two already existing: Testing and Metrology Center (CENYME) and the Laser Center of Navarre (CLN) and one of new creation: Center for Electronics and Automation (CEAN)

2000

The Cetenasa Foundation is created, a non-profit entity that brings together the activity of CETENASA

2003

Cetenasa Foundation is considered a Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) by the Ministry of Science and Technology

CITEAN (Navarra Automotive Technological Innovation Center) is created and is integrated into the Cetenasa Foundation

2005

Cetenasa Foundation is renamed the Cetena Foundation and is made up of two trademarks: CITEAN, oriented to the automotive market, and CEMITEC (Multidisciplinary Center for Innovation and Technology), oriented to electronics, materials and fluid mechanics.

2011

Due to a rearrangement of centers promoted by the Government of Navarre, between 2011 and 2013 under the brand CEMITEC (Cetena Foundation) the following centers were integrated: CTEL (Technological Center of Estella-Lizarra), CITEAN (Center for Innovation and Technology de Automotive de Navarre), FIDIMA (Research, Development and Innovation Foundation in the Environment) and FIDENA (R&D Foundation in Nanotechnology).

2017

Government of Navarre and UPNA decide to create a new technological center specialized in the automotive and mechatronics sectors, both lines defined as priorities by the Government of Navarre in its Strategic Plan, with the aim of promoting both sectors.

2018

NAITEC (Technological Center for Automotive and Mechatronics) is created, which is made up of people from the former CEMITEC and researchers from UPNA.
